Podd Morthwart is a male human who was mentioned in The City of Ember. He was the seventh mayor of Ember and the last person to be in possession of the Instructions before dying.

Before he died, Morethwart tried to open the box which contained the Instructions for Egress, which he thought might have medicine that could save him from the cough disease. However, he was only able to dent the lid, and died before he could return the box or tell anyone of its importance.
